Summary of ‘Cleaner’ Action 2013

Because of the World`s Earth Day, which was on 22nd April, a few days earlier, on 20th April there was as last year next edition of the ‘Cleaner’ Action, which was organized by the County Office in Kowala with the cooperation of the Local Social Welfare Centre in Kowala and Association of Supporting Development of the Kowala Commune.

World`s Earth Day is the biggest ecological celebration of the world, celebrated from 1970, at present in 192 countries. In Poland it started in 1990. The final festive on Mokotowskie Pole in Warsaw is a tradition, when annually thousands of people are gathered, for them the idea of environment protection is very important. Inhabitants of Kowala spent this day in the local area, they spent their free Saturday on cleaning public roads and forests from litters. Young students, teenagers and children from kindergartens and adults from Kowala went to the dirty areas of the commune. The main question was why we make from our environment a waste dump. What is the reason of leaving old TV sets in the forests, why a heap of pampers are near the forests, and stinky alcohol bottles cover the young undergrowth of forests and instead of beauty of nature we can see the stupidity, laziness and lack of human`s responsibility. We found receipts, invoices with names in the waste so it is not difficult to find the owner of the ‘treasures’ with the question why they litter and make stinky our environment, our small homeland, our home?

The participants of the ‘Cleaner’ Action say: ‘We do not allow to litter roads and forests, we would like to have clean surrounding and responsible inhabitants’. Volunteers from Volunteer`s Club, members of Consultation-Information Point, volunteer fire fighters, pupils from Primary School in Kowala and State junior High School in Parznice and also workers of the County Office in Kowala including the Secretary of the Commune- the coordinator of the action, workers of the Local Social Welfare Centre in Kowala and inhabitants took part in the action. The participants of the meeting were divided into groups, each group went into different direction to clean the area of Kowala commune. Areas near primary schools and community centres in the whole commune were also cleaned. The effect of common effort was to gather several dozen of dustbin liners. At the end of the action for every participant hot grilled sausages were waiting.

We enclose the proves of the lack of responsibility in our gallery. Those who are brave, and do not hesitate to throw used things away in the forest we invite to take them back.
