‘Children in web’
A free training connected with the subject of children`s safety in the internet and cyberviolence for parents was held in primary schools in Kowala commune from 21st January 2013 to 24th January 2013. It was conducted by representatives of Police Station in Radom: Mrs Kamila Adamska and Mr Paweł Lenarcik and IT specialist from Local Social Welfare Centre in Kowala Mr Ernest Sar. The aim of these trainings was to make parents more sensitive about the threats, which are lurking for their children in the Internet, and to give them some knowledge about how to protect the computer so as the child does not have the access to unwanted sites, to teach them about criminal responsibility, to talk about how parents can react in dangerous situations connected with surfing the web.
During the trainings, the parents got some brochures about how to successfully protect their computers so as the child cannot have the access to sites which are not accepted and do not influence destructively on its development.
Thanks to cooperation between educational institutions with Local Social Welfare Centre and Police Station in Radom this training could be organized, in connection with Safer Internet Day, which is on 5th February.
Safer Internet Day is celebrated by the initiative of the European Commission, and its aim is to promote and initiate actions about safe usage of the Internet by the children, to raise parents, teachers and educators` awareness with the aspects about children`s security in the Internet and to publicise aspects connected with online safety.
Safer Internet Day is celebrated in Poland from 2005 and is organised by Nobody`s Children Foundation and Research and Academic Computer Network- which are participating in the Safer Internet program.
