There are treasures in Cracow.
On 16th December 2012 a group of participants with closest families visited Cracow as part of the EU project ‘Social assistance very often efficient’. They found there treasures of the Polish culture, joy from being in family and closest neighbours circle, wonderful time graced by sunny weather, entertainment and unexpected attractions.
After reaching Cracow the group watched an animated three-dimensional movie for children “Dino Mama” in Cinema City theatre in trade-entertainment complex GALERIA KAZIMIERZ.
Unruly Ernie, his sister Julia and his friend Max dream on unusual experiences in distant and colourful countries. They find a time-travelling machine while nosing about laboratory filled by inventions. One stumble is sufficient and... they land 65 million years ago! They land in the centre of dinosaur’s nest. Tyrannosaurus takes them for his own, recently hatched offspring. Kids have to find the way of come back home, before their ‘step-siblings’ will appear in the world. It was a lot of emotions. Everyone wanted to know, if heroes will manage difficult task of coming home.
Then participants went with the guide in Wawel Hill area, where they began sightseeing of Cracow on the Royal Road, a route full of high class monuments, former Royal Track. It is the most famous route of Cracow, royal entourages and important deputations wandered through it for ages. They visited Wawel Hill- one of the most important places and testimonies of Poland’s history. Here the cathedral is located- place of coronations and burials of Polish kings, from cathedral’s tower the Sigismund Bell is heard in moments important for Polish nation, remains of kings of Poland rest in crypts.
They saw the hills- relicts of the past, former non-existent buildings, courtyard of the Royal Castle. During the route participants got to know how medieval city and its defence system looked like, where the most important deputations and royal entourages went into it, where the people traded and where they played in the old Cracow. Then participants went from Wawel through historic streets: Kanonicza, Grodzka to the Main Square, where St. Mary’s Basilica is located with the masterpiece of woodcraft- Altarpiece of Veit Stoss. After sightseeing participants went to McDonald for warm meal and tea.
Very attractive and important point of the visit in Cracow was ‘Vaults of the Square’, an impressions’ spectacle of Cracow. That city is so old that no one knows its full history. Krakus Mound remember the days of Celts and legendary Avars. Slavic princes and kings, deciding about form of the city, which became capital of one of the mightiest countries in medieval Europe, lived here. Since 24th September first in Poland, unique in a global scale underground museum can be visited here. Exhibition under the name ‘On the vestiges of Cracow’s European identity’ is a multimedia show, a journey in time. Visitors can not only see, but also touch the history from the beginning of the legendary city. In the archeological park, located four metres under the ground level, we can see an unusual in Europe section of big, lively medieval Cracow. Found monuments witness continuity of the trade, which lasts incessantly since 800 years in that place. That’s the place where were and touched almost all Kowala community’s residents. In the underground museum are, i.a. about 700 archeologically monuments, 500 digital models of monuments, 8 animated films, 5 documentary films, 7 dummies and mock-ups, 600 digital 3D reconstructions, 30 multimedia positions, 160 converters of the signal, 25 flat-panels, 150 audiobooks, 5 holograms, 3 metres- steam screen, 27 multimedial projectors, 37 touchscreens, 190 degrees- projection screen, 64 digital cameras.
Next and the last point of the trip was over two-hours visit in Aquapark in Cracow- the biggest indoor aquapark in Poland and one of the biggest objects of that kind in Europe, which was accompanied by perfect fun and rest with big amount of water attractions. A two-meals dinner with delicious dessert waited for the group after the water madness.
The trip ended about midnight. It was very successful event. We could manage another winter adventures with new strength, like a trip to Kołacinek, “Santa Claus Land”.
